LAS VEGAS — Comedian Ralphie May was found dead at his home in Las Vegas Friday after battling pneumonia for weeks. He was 45.

The news of his “untimely death” was confirmed in a post on his verified Twitter account.

Pneumonia had forced May to cancel a “handful” of dates over the last month in an effort to recover from the illness, the post said. His cause of death was cardiac arrest.

He is survived by his wife, comedian Lahna Turner, and their two children.

In 2003, May finished second on “Last Comic Standing.” Since then he’s starred in several stand-up specials and toured the country. Most recently, he had a residency at Harrah’s Las Vegas.

Two days before his death, he won the Casino Comedian of the Year award at the Global Gaming Expo.
