2 girls rescued from water in Belmar, search for possible 3rd person underway

BELMAR, N.J. — The Coast Guard pulled two young girls from the water at the beach in Belmar, N.J. Thursday afternoon, authorities say.

It happened around 7 p.m. at the 9th Avenue beach.

Rescue officials appeared to be searching for another missing swimmer.

The two swimmers pulled from the water were transported to the hospital in unknown condition. The girls’ ages and identities have not been released.
