BAYONNE, NJ — A massive power outage Monday left almost half of all PSE&G customers in Bayonne without electricity.

About 20,000 people had no power on Monday, PSE&G officials said. The power was restored shortly after 11 a.m. – hours before crews hoped to restore electricity.

Three transformers were down in a PSE&G substation, a mayoral spokesman said. Crews jumped to fix the problem and initially hoped to have power restored by 3 p.m.
