It happened at the East Tremont D subway station on Dec. 2, around 10:10 p.m.

The NYPD says five individuals, aged between 17 and 18, followed the 20-year-old man inside the station before one of them asked for the time. The victim pulled out his phone and told him, but the same individual allegedly punched him, knocking him to the ground and attempted to run off with his cellphone.

The victim managed to get off the ground and fled from the group, police say.

Police only released an image of one of the attackers, saying he was last wearing a black-hooded sweater with the word “Levis” on its chest and black pants.
