7 firefighters, civilian hurt in Bronx blaze

THE BRONX — Seven firefighters and a civilian were hurt Tuesday in a blaze that started at a Bronx home then spread to a neighboring house, authorities said.

The call came in shortly after 11 a.m. that a fire had broken out at a home on Briggs Avenue between East 198th and East 199th streets.

Flames tore through multiple floors of the first home then spread to a second home, fire officials said.

It was deemed under control at about 1:30 p.m.

In all, eight people were hurt. Seven firefighters and a civilian suffered minor injuries, FDNY said.
