Purse snatcher sought in Greenwich Village attack

GREENWICH VILLAGE, Manhattan – A woman was attacked in Manhattan by a man who sprayed something in her face then stole her purse, police said.

It was about 2:15 a.m. Tuesday and the 33-year-old victim was walking near Horatio and Greenwich streets when she was attacked, police said.

A man sprayed an unknown substance in her face then snatched her bag from her shoulder and ran away, heading toward Jane Street, police said.

The woman was taken to a hospital and treated for her injuries, which included swollen and irritated eyes.

Video of the attacker was released Thursday night.

Police are asking for the public’s help to find the culprit, described as a male about 230 pounds and 5 feet 9 inches tall. He was las seen wearing a black jacket and blue jeans.
