Female pedestrian fatally struck by driver in Massapequa Park: Nassau County Police

MASSAPEQUA PARK, N.Y. — A pedestrian was fatally struck by a driver in Massapequa Park early Thursday, according to the Nassau County Police Department.

The pedestrian was struck near Sunrise Highway and Park Boulevard about 4:45 a.m., police said. The location is a large intersection near a Long Island Rail Road stop and multiple gas stations, Google Maps shows.

The driver stayed at the scene, and it is not known if he or she will face charges, according to police.

The pedestrian has only so far been identified as a female.

Eastbound Sunrise Highway was closed between New York Avenue and Park Boulevard due to the investigation. The area was reopened by 8:30 a.m.
