STATEN ISLAND — Shake Shack’s signature burgers will be just a ferry ride away – eventually.

The burger chain announced plans Thursday to open a new location in the Staten Island Mall in the New Springville section of Staten Island. Shake Shack already has locations in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens.

The new location won’t open until 2019, a chain spokesman said, but some people are already pretty excited by the news.

“My dreams are finally becoming a reality… shake shack is opening on Staten Island,” one person tweeted.

The new location is not the only additional Shack coming to the city; Shake Shack also recently announced plans to open a 2,500 square-foot location in Penn Station in 2017. There are 14 locations already in the five boroughs;  the newest location opened at Fulton Center in July.

Shake Shack is known for the long lines of customers that stretch down the block near its Midtown locations. The chain opened its first location in 2004 at Madison Square Park. It has since expanded to about 100 storefronts across the nation and internationally.
