HARLEM — Lizelle Bussue says her 79-year-old mom hasn't had an elevator for two years, and she wants it fixed.
"If the elevator is back, it will bring back her spirit, her glow, her ability to get out and connect," Bussue said about her mom.
Laura Bussue is a great-grandmother who feels trapped in her home on the fifth floor.
"I feel stuck because I haven't been able to get out," she said.
Her passion is synchronized swimming and teaching children to swim. But because of her persistent elevator problem, she hasn't gone to practice for months.
PIX11 News has good news for Bussue:Metropolitan Elevator promises to have the elevator working on Monday.
North Management, the company that runs the building, told PIX11 News, through a spokesperson, "We apologize for the inconvenience, but we are doing renovations, to move toward more affordable housing. We look forward to the elevator working on Monday."
