1 person killed in Washington Heights fire: FDNY

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, Manhattan — One person was killed in a  Washington Heights fire Wednesday morning, according to FDNY.

The blaze was reported at 603 W. 184th St. at 8:52 a.m., fire officials said.

One person was found dead in the five-story building, according to FDNY. His or her identity is not yet known.

The blaze was knocked down in less than an hour, and fire officials remained on scene as of 9:50 a.m.

The residential fire is near St. Nicholas Avenue, where multiple small businesses are located.
