Group robs Brooklyn Family Dollar store, assaults employee with shopping baskets: NYPD

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn – A group assaulted a Brooklyn Family Dollar employee as he tried to stop them from stealing several speakers last Saturday, police said.

The robbery happened inside 2010 Atlantic Ave. at approximately 8:30 p.m., according to the NYPD.

Police said eight males robbed nine tower speakers from the Crown Heights discount store and attacked a 24-year-old worker with shopping baskets on their way out.

The employee suffered minor injuries, police said.

Authorities released surveillance video showing the incident. They described the culprits as follows:

The first individual was last seen wearing a red jacket and red sweatpants. The second appeared to be wearing a white-hooded sweatshirt and a blue and green jacket. The third was last seen donning black-hooded jacket and blue jeans. the fourth was wearing a gray-hooded sweater and a black jacket. The fifth was wearing sunglasses with a blue jacket and a beige jacket. The sixth was wearing glasses along with a gray and black hooded sweatshirt. The seventh also had glasses and was wearing a gray-hooded sweater and a black jacket. The eighth was last seen with a black and gray-hooded jacket.
