The Union County coroner is investigating a hunting accident after a man was found dead in a wooded area in Union County after he was mistaken for a deer.

SOUTH CAROLINA — The Union County coroner is investigating a hunting accident after a man was found dead in a wooded area in Union County after he was mistaken for a deer.

The Department of Natural Resources and the Union County Sheriff’s Office are working with the coroner on the investigation.

According to the report, 30-year-old Brian Gregory Pickle of Atlanta was shot by his brother after his brother mistook him for a deer.

The DNR said Pickle and his brother were in a hunting club when the incident occurred at about 5:45 p.m. in the 200 block of Wilson Road on Saturday.

No charged have been filed at this time.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday morning.
