PIX11 helps Bronx seniors get to the polls on Election Day

The seniors at the Amber Court assisted living facility in the Bronx on Waring Avenue are passionate to vote, but have a problem.

How do they get there?

"They don't have transportation from the board of elections or their loved ones who may not live in this state at all. We need to help them," said Councilmember Jimmy Vacca, who alerted PIX11 News to the problem.

Their polling place is IS 144.  Its too far to walk, so many of the seniors don't really know how they were going to get to the polls and feel stranded.

Thanks to Vacca and Prestige Car Service in the Bronx, a seniors will get a ride to vote.

Even Councilmember Vacca got behind the wheel to help.

Every vote counts.
