NEW YORK — Instagram was down for an unknown number of people Tuesday afternoon, according to dozens of tweets that included angry giphs and crying-face emojis.
Tweets began to pour in around 1 p.m., acknowledging the internet’s favorite way to check on an apparently broken social media site — scouring other social media sites for answers.
Instagram briefly acknowledged the ordeal in a 1:23 p.m. tweet, but it was later deleted.
The Facebook-owned social media company has not since commented on the situation, but, according to TechCrunch, that’s because it managed to get the app and site up and running again around the same time.
The faux pas occurred on the same day Instagram began offering a new photo tagging system that allows users to not only learn more about items they are viewing, but also buy them without leaving the app.
It is not known if the new feature is connected to the temporary outage, but something tells us the reason does not matter to those “Instagram down” tweeters.
