PATERSON, N.J. — One person was injured in a police-involved shooting in Paterson Saturday evening.

Officials say the shooting happened in front of the Paterson Police Department at 111 Broadway.

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia Valdes said a man was observed “acting erratically” in front of the police station.

An on-duty officer responded to the scene. Valdes said the officer shot the man once in the abdomen.

He was taken to an area hospital for injuries where he continues to be treated.

It was not immediately clear what prompted the officer to shoot the man.

No arrests have been made at this time.
