ELMHURST, Queens — Police arrested a man who allegedly tried to lure a girl away from her lobby in Queens.

Jaime Arias, 33, was arrested Wednesday and charged with endangering the welfare of a child.

The 13-year-old girl was waiting for her school bus to come around 6:15 a.m. on Oct. 6 when Arias allegedly approached her and tried to convince her to come with him, police said.

“He told her he was going to go get her if she told anyone,” Joanna Gomez, the girl’s sister, told PIX11 News. “And he kept touching her.”

The girl ran onto her school bus when it came and the man ran away, police said. The girl was not injured. She told her family what had happened to her when she got home from school that day.

“My sister is so scared, she’s afraid to leave the apartment unless she is with someone,” Gomez told PIX11 News.

Arias is awaiting arraignment.
