More than 140 firefighters called to extinguish West Village apartment fire

WEST VILLAGE, Manhattan – More than 140 firefighters were called to take down a fire at a West Village apartment early Thursday, according to officials.

The blaze began on the fifth floor at 130 Jane St. around 11 p.m. Wednesday and then spread to the fourth and sixth floors before it was placed under control at about 1:30 a.m. Thursday FDNY said.

An FDNY spokesperson said there were no injuries in the fire.

Residents in the area were warned to close their windows to avoid smoke.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
