CLAREMONT VILLAGE, the Bronx — A woman said she remains terrified more than a week after a man attacked her inside her Bronx apartment building vestibule, kicking her and ripping her purse out of her hands.
The woman, 35, who is the mother of three children, was attacked Oct. 16 about 9:35 p.m., police said. She was walking into her apartment building near Fulton Avenue and Crotona Place in the Claremont Village section of the Bronx when a man wearing a red hoodie followed her inside and grabbed her.
The man threw her onto the ground in the building’s vestibule and grabbed her purse. He stomped her stomach before ripping her purse out of hands and taking her cellphone, police said.
“Now, I’m so scared,” said the victim, who identified herself to PIX11 News only as Carolina. She had choice words for her attacker: “You don’t have to do that. Get a job.”
The violent attack was caught on camera, which was just released. The attacker is described as a man about 6 feet tall and 220 pounds. The woman suffered bruises to her body, but refused medical attention.
The mother said she is still in pain more than a week after the incident.
"It still hurts. My back, I have a lot of pain in my back," she told PIX11 News.
