Man punches 85-year-old man in Upper East Side park behind Gracie Mansion: NYPD

UPPER EAST SIDE, Manhattan — Police are looking for a man who robbed and assaulted an 85-year-old behind Gracie Mansion on Tuesday afternoon.

It happened around 3 p.m. inside of Carl Schurz Park at East End Avenue and East 90 Street.

Police say the suspect approached the 85-year-old man from behind and punched him in the side of the head causing him to fall to the ground.

The victim was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital with lacerations to his head and above his eye. He is listed in stable condition.

The suspect fled southbound on the promenade. He is described as being in his 40s, with a black backpack; last seen wearing a black coat, blue jeans, and a red knit cap.
