SUNSET PARK, Brooklyn — Police arrested a man who allegedly followed a woman to a Sunset Park apartment building and attempted to rape her in the stairwell Saturday night.

Sammy Bensabeur, 19, of Brooklyn, was arrested Tuesday.

On Saturday about 10:30 p.m. a 38-year-old woman was walking from the 25th Street subway station near Fourth Avenue to apartment building. Bensabeur allegedly helped the woman in the subway station, but continued to stalk her into her apartment building.

He then continued to follow her up the stairs, grabbing her while walking from the first to second floor, police said. The woman fell on the stairs where Bensabeur allegedly tried to rape her, police said.

Bensabeur turned himself in with his attorney Tuesday afternoon, police sources said.

He has been charged with multiple counts including attempted rape, attempted criminal sex act, sex abuse and forcible touching, according to police.
