Hamilton Heights apartment fire injures 5 firefighters

HAMILTON HEIGHTS, Manhattan – Six people, including five firefighters were hurt in an apartment fire early Thursday.

The blaze started on a sixth floor apartment on West 141st Street in Hamilton Heights at about 1:12 a.m. It was placed under control less than an hour later.

Four of the five injured firefighters suffered minor wounds, according to the FDNY. The remaining firefighter was taken to a local hospital in serious but stable condition.

The one civilian who was wounded in the blaze refused medical service.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
