A 16-year-old man was trying to get off the No. 6 train at the E. 96th Street subway station about 1:55 p.m. on Oct. 5 when he saw a man — dawning a black fedora, blue and red vest with striped shirt and dress pants — standing on the platform and blocking his path, police said.

The two made physical contact as the teen got off the train and stepped on the platform.

As the 16-year-old was walking, he turned around and saw the man, this time holding a knife, approaching him, according to police. The panicked teen started running toward the station's exit.

He ran to the streets as the knife-wielding man followed behind and then fled to unknown parts.

Surveillance video caught the man wearing clown clothing entering the subway station before the incident.
