Did Alex Trebek call ‘nerdcore’ hip-hop lover a ‘loser’ on Jeopardy?

BURBANK, Calif. — Jeopardy!” host Alex Trebek had some blunt words on Wednesday’s episode for a contestant who listens to “nerdcore” hip-hop.

Susan Cole, a legislative librarian from Bowie, Maryland, explained to Trebek what nerdcore was by saying:

“(The genre features) rapping about the things they love. Video games, science-fiction, having a hard time meeting romantic partners. It’s really catchy and fun.”

Trebek wasted no time in paraphrasing for her in his classic deadpan tone, “Losers, in other words.”

Even Cole had to smile at his cold-blooded delivery as audience members chuckled.

Despite a laugh at her expense, Cole ended up having a great show – she finished with $22,600, destroying her competition.
