THE BRONX – A Bronx high school was evacuated Tuesday after construction crews hit a gas line near the campus, fire officials said.

Construction workers were excavating near Morris High School, located at 1100 Boston Road, and struck a gas line, FDNY said.

The school was evacuated as a precaution, but shortly before noon, students and staff were allowed back inside.

The school was tested for elevated levels of gas in the air and was deemed safe for those evacuated to return.
