Lufthansa, United planes clip wings on Newark Airport taxiway

NEWARK, N.J. — Two commercial planes clipped wings on the taxiway at Newark Airport Tuesday afternoon.

Port Authority officials say a United Airlines plane clipped the wing of a Lufthansa plane around 5:45 p.m.

The Lufthansa plane was parked and had no passengers aboard it.

United Airlines issued a statement saying United Airlines Flight 88 from Beijing came in contact with another plane. The plane was towed to the gate.

No injuries were reported on either plane.

Both planes sustained damage.

Emergency crews are on the scene investigating.
