1 missing after boat capsizes in Fire Island Inlet

NEW YORK  — Crews are searching for a boater in the water at Fire Island Inlet after their boat capsized Tuesday evening.

Suffolk County officials received a call just before 6 p.m., for an overturned boat.

Marine Bureau officers responded to assist the Coast Guard and the NYPD’s Special Operations Division to rescue the boaters.

Two of the three men on the 23-foot pleasure boat were rescued and transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip.

The search is ongoing for a third person.
