NEW YORK – Playoff pitching matchups don't get much better: Madison Bumgarner will start for the San Francisco Giants against Noah Syndergaard and the New York in the NL wild-card game.

The winner on Wednesday night moves on to face the major league-best Chicago Cubs, who are 103-58, in a best-of-five Division Series. The loser heads home for the winter.

Both teams play at 8 p.m. on ESPN.

This will be the second postseason meeting of the clubs as the Mets beat the Giants in four games in a 2000 National League Division series. The Mets won home field for this game by taking the season series between the clubs as each club finished 87-75.
