Hatchet-wielding man assaults, robs woman in Woodside: NYPD

WOODSIDE, Queens — Police are searching for a hatchet-wielding man they say robbed a woman Saturday night in Queens.

The victim, 23, was walking in the vicinity of Woodside Avenue and Roosevelt Avenue in the Woodside section of the borough around 11:30 p.m., when the suspect approached her from behind.

Police say the suspect, who was armed with a hatchet, allegedly knocked her to the ground and took her purse.

The suspect is described as being between 25 and 30 years old; 5-foot-6 and weighing 145 pounds. He was last seen wearing black shoes with red laces; a black baseball cap and a black jacket.
