Neighbors mourn mother, son murdered in Bronx home; husband arrested

CLAREMONT, Bronx – Friends who knew 50-year-old Sharon Epps and 27-year-old Tyrell Bell were devastated to hear they were found fatally shot to head in their Bronx apartment.

"I feel very sad, it's very sad," Raquel Toro, a neighbor told PIX11.

Firefighters were responding to a report of a gas leak at 1763 Fulton Ave. around 7:25 p.m. Saturday. They made the grim discovery when Epps' husband 49-year-old Antonio Robinson opened the door.

Epps and Bell were found unconscious and unresponsive with gunshot wounds to the head, police said. They were pronounced dead in their home.

Robinson was taken into custody by police. He was later charged with their murders, police said Sunday.

Officers from the Strategic Response Group were canvassing through weeds nearby for the murder weapon.

Residents laid candles for the mother and son who were well-known fixtures on their block.

Police continued to patrol the scene late Sunday afternoon as long-term friends question whether the husband was responsible.

"I don't see how it could be any other way," one friend said. "I used to call that man my brother."
