KEARNY, N.J. — A bus burst into flames on the New Jersey Turnpike Saturday evening.

The fire broke out around 6 p.m., on the Western Spur southbound Interchange 15W – I-280 in Kearny.

Officials initially closed two lanes but the turnpike has since reopened.

It was not immediately clear if the bus is privately owned or a NJ Transit bus.

A photo uploaded to Twitter shows the bus on fire on the side of the highway.

It is unknown if there are any injuries.

Drivers should seek alternate routes.
