Ellen Sager, 43, was driving down Oak Glen Road about 8 p.m. when she hit a deer with her SUV, police said. She pulled over to the side of the road after the incident and opened her door slightly when the deer came charging toward her.

The deer managed to fling open the SUV door, slamming its two hooves on Sager. She fought the deer off and eventually is forced to kick it down to get it out of the car. The deer falls over after the brief "scuffle."

An officer, responding to a call, was driving down the road behind Sager when the bizarre encounter happened, the department said.

Sager suffered a minor knee injury.

The deer later died from its injuries sustained from being hit by the SUV, police said.
