19-year-old robbery suspect back in custody after escaping in Brooklyn

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn — A 19-year-old robbery suspect is back in police custody after escaping Tuesday night.

Police say Dwayne McClary, 19, escaped around 8 p.m. at 615 Dean St. in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn. By 10 p.m., police say McClary was located and taken back into police custody.

McClary was handcuffed and fled southbound on Troy Avenue from Atlantic Avenue.

McClary had been arrested earlier in the day at 2:19 a.m. for the second degree robbery of a woman on Sept. 6 at Schenectady Avenue and Dean Street. Police say he allegedly pushed the woman against a gate and stole her purse.
