Woman, 83, struck by car on Upper East Side

UPPER EAST SIDE — An 83-year-old woman was struck by a car and was seriously injured on Saturday, police said.

She was struck in the crosswalk at 71st Street and Third Avenue around 11 a.m. by a gray Chevy Traverse whose driver was in reverse attempting to park, police said.

The woman suffered "serious head trauma" and was rushed to New York Hospital.

The driver remained at the scene.

The incident is being investigated by the NYPD's collision investigation squad.
