PORT ANGELES, Wash. — Reality TV star Gabe Rygaard was killed Friday morning in a multi-vehicle crash in Washington.

According to Washington State Police, Rygaard, 45, veered to avoid hitting a slowing car in front of him when he hit another car coming from the opposite direction.

Six other people were involved in the crash. Three people were treated for minor injuries.

Police say Rygaard was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Rygaard was one of the stars of the History Channel show “Ax Men” chronicling his family-owned business, Rygaard Logging.

The show, which followed several logging crews, was canceled earlier this year.

Rygaard ran as a Republican in the primary for the District 2 county commissioner seat but did not advance to the general election.

He is survived by his wife and three children.
