Duo runs away with 84-year-old woman’s purse in the Bronx: police

SOUNDVIEW, Bronx - Police are looking for a man and his accomplice who swiped an 84-year-old woman's purse as she sat on a bus stop bench in the Bronx, the NYPD said.

It happened at 5:45 a.m. in front of one of the Bronx River Houses complexes in the Soundview section of the borough.

The NYPD said one the thieves snatched the victim's purse as she waited for a bus. He then ran into a nearby building where another man held the door open for him, police said.

Both men entered an elevator and fled further in the building. Footage released by police caught them looking through the victim's bag.

The first individual was last seen wearing red-hooded sweater and dark-colored pants. The other was last seen with a gray-hooded sweater and dark-colored pants.

According to the latest NYPD Crime Statistics, robberies targeting Bronx residents over the age of 75 has risen to over 116 percent in 2016.
