LONG ISLAND CITY, Queens — An intersection in Long Island City -- 44th Drive and 11th Street -- is notoriously dangerous.
The owners of the Mill Coffee shop on the corner say they have front row seats to the crashed.
"I would see people get out of their car accident and have blood all over them. As a mother I don't understand why the city doesn't step in," Nina Brian said.
Councilmember Jimmy Van Bramer said nine people have been hurt this year and two crashes happened in a 48-hour period. One involved a pregnant woman.
"One of things that would be helpful is a left-turn signal, here on 11th street, directing cars, but the Department of Transportation says that is not necessary," Van Bramer said.
We reached out to the Department of Transportation.
A spokesperson said "we will be making several enhancements to the corridor, some of which will directly affect the intersection."
