Hit-and-run driver arrested after seriously injuring bicyclist: police

DIX HILLS, N.Y. — A man has been arrested after leaving the scene of an accident in Dix Hills Saturday morning.

Raynard Dashiell, 54, was driving west on Express Drive North just feet away from Half Hollow Mills Road when he hit a bicyclist around 9 a.m. Saturday, according to police.

Dashiell fled the scene but his car broke down about a quarter mile away. Police found him and arrested him.

The bicyclist, 58, was taken to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Dashiell has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident with serious injury.

He is expected to be arraigned Sunday.
