Police search for man who beat, robbed 72-year-old in the Bronx: NYPD

ALLERTON, Bronx — Police are looking for a man who beat and robbed a 72-year-old man in the Bronx Friday.

The 72-year-old man told the NYPD he was walking in the Allerton section of the Bronx shortly before 3 a.m. on Sept. 9 when his attacker approached him and demanded money. The attacker then started to punch and kick the victim causing him to fall to the ground. The attacker continued to hit the victim, police said.

The man fled the scene with the victim's wallet, authorities said.

The 72-year-old man sustained a broken eye socket and bruises on his elbow and lip, according to police. He was treated at a local hospital.

The incident which took place on Barker Avenue near Allerton Avenue, only a few blocks from the New York Botanical Garden and Bronx Zoo.
