NEW YORK — The New York Mets have signed Tim Tebow to a minor league contract, the team announced of Twitter Thursday.
The 29-year-old former NFL quarterback will participate in the Mets instructional league.
Tebow wasn’t able to stick with the NFL roster after a run in with the New York Jets in 2012. Last week, in front of scouts, he held an open tryout from 28 of the 30 MLB teams, CNN reports.
He announced his plans to shift from football to baseball in August.
