Dramatic video shows NY driver crashing car into Connecticut gas station

CLINTON, Conn. -- Dramatic surveillance video has been released of a driver from New York crashing a car into a Shell gas station in Connecticut last week.

The incident happened around 6 p.m. on Sept. 1.

The video, obtained by Clinton police, shows the motorist of the SUV appearing to take evasive action by turning to his left to avoid striking the parked white van, and accelerates instead of braking, slamming the front of the store.

The driver is identified as Christopher Caterino, 64, of Greenfield, N.Y., was cited for reckless driving. Police at the scene determined alcohol/drugs were not a contributing factor to this accident.

The clerk at the store, identified as Nirav Patel, of Old Saybrook, suffered minor injuries.
