NEW YORK — The week after Labor Day can mean increased anxiety as well as excitement as millions of students head back to school, and proud parents across New York and New Jersey shared their own cherished photos and memories with PIX11.
It’s been more like back-to-school week in the tri-state area, as many kids in New Jersey headed to class just one day after the holiday — on Tuesday.
Others in the state, and in New York City, had until Thursday to get those first-day outfits prepped.
For the Kest family — a group of nine, including three sets of twins and a baby boy — getting ready for back to school started days before the students' first days.
“We keep our fingers crossed that everybody’s going to wake up in a good mood,” mom Keri Kest told PIX11. “In all seriousness, we try and stay organized.”
Father Ben says while sometimes he’s away at work during the morning rush, when he gets to be home the name of the game is following his wife's directions.
