Pair wanted for Duane Reade robbery pattern: police

Police are searching Wednesday for two men they believe are connected to a string of Duane Reade robberies that have occurred across Manhattan since May.

The men allegedly stole a variety of toiletries, including Rogaine, Crest Whitestrips, razors and over-the-counter medications.

The first robbery occurred at 8 a.m. on May 1 at a Duane Reade located at 4 Amsterdam Ave. The two men allegedly opened a locked display case with a key and took the property inside. The men left with toothpaste and over-the-counter medication, police said.

Around 40 minutes later that same morning, the men allegedly entered another Duane Reade at 380 Amsterdam Ave. and opened another locked display case. They took 19 boxes of Rogaine, according to police.

About two weeks later on May 14, the two men allegedly entered another Duane Reade located at 866 Third Ave. They again opened a locked display case with a key, and took 16 boxes of Crest Whitestrips, police said.

The next day, the men entered a Duane Reade location at 2025 Broadway and opened another locked display case with a key. Police said the men took a large quantity of over-the-counter medications.

A week later on May 22, the men struck at yet another Duane Reade located at 711 Third Ave. They allegedly opened another locked display case with a key and snagged 80 boxes of over-the-counter medicine.

The two men struck at a Duane Reade located at 51 W. 51st St. the morning of June 5. Again, police said the pair unlocked another display case. They snatched 24 boxes of Crest Whitestrips.

A few weeks after that, on June 30, the pair then allegedly entered another Duane Reade at 1479 Third Ave. They again opened a locked display case with a key and took out 10 boxes of Rogaine, police said.

The men then struck twice on Aug. 13. They entered a Duane Reade at 4 Amsterdam Ave., opened yet another locked display case, and took a large number of razors and razor blades, police said.

Then the pair allegedly went into another Duane Reade at 194 E. Second St. and again unlocked a display case. They snagged 15 boxes of Rogaine, 2 boxes of over-the-counter medicine and 14 boxes of Crest Whitestrips. They then fled in a tan colored van, according to police.
