NEW YORK — The newest viral challenge to take over social media has people putting in a workout — including NYPD officers.
Across the Internet, people are recording themselves doing 22 videos and tagging their videos with #22PushupChallenge.
The hashtag represents the often-repeated statistic that 22 military veterans on average die by suicide every day in the US, and the campaign aims to raise awareness for mental health challenges.
With celebrities such as Chris Pratt, Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Bacon participating, various NYPD precincts and units have also joined in the effort.
The videos on Twitter show groups of officers pumping out 22 pushups in various places — including a large amount of officers from the NYPD Counter-terrorism Unit doing it in the middle of busy Times Square.
