LONG BEACH, N.Y. –Two women have been seriously injured after authorities say their personal watercraft struck a bridge on Long Island.

Nassau County police say the women, ages 24 and 29, were traveling in the Reynolds Channel around 7 p.m. Monday when they hit the Long Island Railroad Bridge in Island Park. The crash left both victims unconscious.

Police say a father and son fishing nearby jumped in the water and pulled the women to shore with help from a couple on another watercraft.

Both women were taken to a hospital and are listed in critical condition.

The jet ski was seen next to a police boat with minimal exterior damage.
