MIDTOWN, Manhattan — New York’s iconic hot dog shop Gray’s Papaya is making a comeback in midtown.

According to Crain’s New York, Gray’s Papaya will open a store at 612 Eighth Ave., between West 39 and West 40th streets by the end of the year.

Gray’s, which first opened in 1973, had several locations throughout the city at one point. The West 37th Street and Eighth Avenue shop closed in 2011 and the Greenwich Village outpost shuttered in 2014. Both locations cited rising rents as the reason for closing.

As of August 2016, the only Gray’s location still open is on the Upper West Side on West 72nd Street and Broadway.

Crain’s reports that the lease on the new location stretches for 20 years.
