Mother arrested after leaving her 5-year-old in car outside Levittown Target: police

LEVITTOWN, N.Y. – Police arrested a mother for allegedly leaving her child unattended in a car outside a Target store on Long Island Wednesday afternoon.

Juliia Medvid, 29, was charged  with endangering welfare of a child after officers found her 5-year-old in a running car in the parking lot of a Target located at 3850 Hempstead Tpke., police said. When police arrived, she exited the store and told them she ” was only gone a few minutes.”

The child was released to a family friend and Medvid was placed under arrest.

She will be arraigned on Thursday in First District Court, Hempstead.
