Body with ‘severe lacerations’ found inside Greenlawn Park

HUNTINGTON, N.Y. – Suffolk County authorities are investigating a homicide at a park on Long Island early Saturday.

Police say they found a man with "severe lacerations" in Greenlawn Park after a passerby discovered the body while walking inside the park and called 911 at about 7:20 a.m.

They said the body of the unidentified man was found off to the side of the baseball field. No word on how long the body was there.

The park will be closed, including ball fields and skatepark, will be closed for the entire day due to police activity, according to the Town of Huntington.

Suffolk County Police Department asks the public for tips and to call 800-220-TIPS for any information regarding the homicide.
