Man shoves his way into woman’s Williamsburg apartment and tries to rob her, police say

WILLIAMSBURG, Brooklyn — Police released video Thursday of a teenager who allegedly forced his way into a woman's apartment and tried to rob her at knifepoint.

The 17-year-old victim was entering her Williamsburg apartment around 9:40 p.m. Tuesday when the suspect came up behind her and forced his way into the apartment, police said. The victim ran into the kitchen and the suspect followed her. He grabbed a knife from the sink and pointed it at her, but then dropped it and ran off.

Police described the suspect as 16-20 years old, 5'8", with a dark complexion and black hair. He was last seen wearing a black shirt and a white wrist band on his left wrist.

Police are asking for help in identifying the suspect.
