It happened on July 25, at about 2:30 p.m. inside an apartment in the vicinity of 175th Street and Walton Avenue.

Police said the stranger followed the child into an elevator and asked where she lived – before threatening to harm her.

"If you don't want me to hurt you, follow me into the stairway," he allegedly told the victim. She refused and ran off the elevator, banging on a door of an apartment and yelling for help, according to police.

The suspect, who appears to be in his 20s, then ran away to parts unknown. He was last seen wearing a dark-colored shirt and dark-colored pants.

Police released a sketch in hopes the public can identify the suspect.
