Overturned tanker truck on Staten Island Expressway snarls morning commute

STATEN ISLAND – An overturned tanker truck is causing delays up to an hour on the Staten Island Expressway, making for a troublesome commute for motorists traveling into Brooklyn and Manhattan.

It happened before 7:15 a.m. on the expressway by Exit 13/Clove Road. All lanes are subject to closure, but one HOV lane is letting cars squeeze by.

According to the PIX11 Traffic Center, delays are back to the West Shore Expressway, which amounts to about an hour in delays.

Drivers are advised to take the Bayonne Bridge or the New Jersey Turnpike to the Holland Tunnel to get into the city.

Staten Island buses X10, X11, X12, X17A, X19, X31 and X42 are also being detoured.
